“Legs-Up-The-Wall” is a yoga pose known as an inversion pose, flipping your body from a normal day to day up right position.
Giving your body a break from normal positioning can be extremely beneficial in many ways.
✅ Improves Circulation:
A common cause of swollen legs can be insufficient venous drainage, meaning the blood from your legs is not properly drained back to your heart. As you can imagine, having gravity on your side by putting your legs up against a wall can help drain your legs.
✅ Stress Relief:
Research has shown that yoga poses can have a positive impact on reducing stress. People generally find holding this position very calming and relaxing. De-stressing is associated with increasing better mental and physical health. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated while in the position and helps to reduce heart rate, relaxing the body.
By relieving pressure on the lower body, muscles ligaments, tendons and bones all get a well deserved rest. By minimizing the pressure on the lower body the nerves can also be calmed. This can help with any pain or soreness in the area.
